block heater on truck issue

i put a circulating heater on my Dodge diesel truck 2 weeks ago, it works great, a couple of hours and the engine is warm enough for the air intake heater not to have to come on, but i keep cracking the y fitting that joins the block heater hose (hot) into the top heater hose for the truck heater...

Any one know if/where i can get brass 5/8 barbed y fittings to replace the stupid plastic that come with the block heater??

around here any orielly or napa store should have them or you may have to wait a day for them to order a metal one. go to napaonline.com and look under cooling system, parts and you should find it.

you mite try Grainger or make some out of copper pipe and fittings...half inch should do it.

Go to mcmaster.com and search for part number: 91355K53

It's a 5/8ths brass T fitting. A little on the pricey side, but if you can't find one locally, it may be worth it. Their shipping is very reasonable, as they only charge cost of shipping, not a huge shipping AND handling charge. Also may want to try your local Ace/Do it Best/TruValue hardware store. I find for plumbing parts, those places often have a better selection than the big warehouse stores like Home Depot and Lowes.

Find another port in the block and eliminate the"T".

Or, get 3 of these and a pipe thread "T".

Look at some old tractors. They had the "Y" you need made out of aluminum. The original kits where that way. Then they switched to plastic. I have also made them out of 1/2 copper pipe.
