These young guys and their pickups think they started the tail-gate parties with their buddies and football games.

Well guys, give your head a shake, "Tail-Gate Parties" have been around for a very long time!

Gramps told me stories about "Chuck Wagons"! While the Cowboys were out herding cattle to market they had their "Chuck Wagons" and "Tail-Gate Parties" every night under the stars!
 
And we were having them on the back of tail gates of those big 50's station wagons (Country Squires)in the middle of the afternoon for lunches, when we had a large group pheasant hunting.
 
During harvest and haying seasons, Mom brought dinner and supper out to the fields. Packed it all up for us 6 kids, Dad, herself and an Uncle. Must have been a lot of work for her. That was back in the late 50's. We sat on the ground beside the car or under a trailer trying to find some shade.
 
Yep! Been dong that all my life. But I never did any underage drinking in the sixties. Out late at night, with the gang. Guys and gals on a deserted road. NO not me. Never. LOL.

Mom always brought us lunch to the field. I remember sitting anywhere you could find shade and cool off be fore getting back to work. Ate out of the back of the station wagon. AHHHH the good old days.
 
I like the Dinner and Supper part, I cant bring myself around to call Dinner eating at night. We had a Dinner bell and it rang at noon
 
sounds like most of yall had it made...when it was melon pickin season thats all we had in the field...my grandfather would stash a few culls in hay under some salt cedars every evening...next day melons were as cold as bein in ice box...if you got thirsty...eat some melon...hungry...same thing...its no wonder i cant stand em now lol
 
Thats what I grew up calling the meals. Lunch was a snack in between dinner or supper. If dinner is now at supper time, when is supper or is that not a meal anymore?
