FUN TOPIC: WHAT MAKES YOU LOVE YOUR TRACTOR?

I have my reasons, just wondering if any of you all out there have yours? I will share my reasons why I love my tractor sometime tomorrow (SAT).

Well, I have a few tractors, and I love em all, I'll list em and why.

(2) JD 110 Garden tractor: Because that was the first thing I got to drive on my own.. Dad bought one well used when he bought our place in 1984.

Massey-Harris 33: First tractor I bought, with my own money, at 16 years old.

Farmall H: Because my father's grandfather had a pair of em he farmed with, and I always liked to hear dad's stories about them

Allis-Chalmers D-17: Because it's been in the family since new, and it's dang handy with that loader.

Case 930: Because it's big, "western style" and has a M&W turbo, so it's different.. and I like different.

(2) CO-OP E3/Cockshutt 30: Because my dad grew up on one.. Goes back to stories yet again.

Most of my tractors are sadly in all shapes of disrepair, but someday I'll have them all up and running again.. Should pass on good deals sometimes to finish up a project.

Maybe you should share your love thoughts at the local mental health clinic. You are definitely a loser.

Thats what the Doctor told me to do !!

I danced nekked around it!

Doc said because aunt Ernie and I have been not getting along so well lately That I should do something Sxxy to a tractor!

Several reasons:

1. My tractor doesn't care if I spend time or
money on another tractor.

2. I can break wind near my tractor and not get
called names.

3. I can ignore my tractor for months, and it'll
still purr when I crank it up.

4. Never had a tractor yet that said it's mother
was right about me.

5. I know what makes my tractor tick...and I can
usually fix that noise.

6. When I get tired of hearing my tractor, I can
shut it off and walk away, and not make it mad.

7. I don't know my tractor's birthday, but it
still doesn't care.

8. I have never upset my tractor by something I
said.

9. My tractor is my partner, and together we get
a lot of things done that I'd probably never get
done without it.

This is not to say that my tractor is--or isn't--
high maintenance.

Tractors, (looks around) What tractors? Yeah, I
think I like my Farmall H best. Light steering,
simple, quiet, I can hear the birds sing. I
daydream about good times and simple days. It's therapy that improves my wellbeing.

It moved this rock.

I have a Farmall cub that reminds me of my dad"s cub and the memories of growing up with it.
The Case vac is another "ol girl I use for pull"n,plowing, discing, trailer rides and buzzing fire wood that keeps my wife warm and me happy.
A "45 Farmall H is another work"n girl for brushhogging, buzzing wood, plowing snow and a yard mule.
A Cub lo-boy 154 that mows and mows over anything
I didn"t see w/o bending like a newer one would!
A NICE "42 Farmall H restored by a distinguished gentleman who represents the salt of the earth, was a great friend, and also tried to preserve Americana, the American farmer and his families history. I proudly drive this tractor in local parades and pulls in honor of him and my mom & dad who have worked hard in their life to support my hoby. May the blood sweat and tears of yesteryear live on for all. God bless and Merry Christmas!

My philosophy has always been "don't love anything that won't love you back". However, I climbed in bed deep with a Dodge dually and The relationship has been pretty expensive.

We generally love one particular brand of tractors because we like the feel, the sound, the color of it, and it's the tractor grandpa owned.

I don't particularly love any of the tractors I own, but they're paid for so why should I trade them off? But then there is that sweet, lovable dependable little SC Case sitting in the shed that's just yearning for me to come put my hands on it's steering wheel. Jim

I can relate,,Dad and Great Uncles Swore buy CASE trators (sometimes at em )LOL .. I always say a Prayer for all of them long Gone while tooling along with the old 800 , DC ,VAC,,. When I was 14 i got turned loose running a 4020 deere chisiling ,,Liked it so much that I vowed to get one of my own some day,, Too bad i did not get into a 970 Case some 10 yrs later ...

Well ,it is several things, the ol Oliver sure has saved my back when we get buryed in snow Ilove the sound of a big six cylender and having tha ablity to do jobs without needing outside help just fire up the loader and have at em!

Ok, I see some are having fun with the fact I said "love" in regards to tractors.

Let's just ask this: "What do you value or appreciate about the tractor you own?"

ME: Growing up in the Detroit area, much of my family worked for Ford. It is like having a part of Michigan with me when Detroit was still a productive city called the Motor City! The 1959 Ford tractor I now own is a piece of American history in my view. I hope to fully restore it to how it originally looked and enjoy it mainly as a collector's item and conversation piece? It is much more affordable (in my case) than trying to find and restore an old car.

Because my dad brought me up around the Farmalls i now have the same love of the equipment.

Messing with any of the four is grounds for "Death" .

Tractors are neat because of simplicity and so many observable mechanical functions. Like you can see how far to turn your front wheel, etc. Most problems you can see the remedy, right now. Sound of 4 or 6 cylinder straight piped engine or minimal muffler. Also takes you back to being a kid again. No registration, no license, nobody to pay for your fun. Make repairs any way you wish. Paint any color you wish. No inspectors to deal with. Only neighbors, Ha Ha. What I have now Farmall cub , Farmall A. Previous 9N and Ford 3 cyl. 4000. Cut grass and plow snow. Dave
