I have an option to by a Shibaura SD3000A Do tractor and loader, are they any good? Any thing i should know about. the guy wants $3500. Thank in advance.

I don"t know the Shibaura models, but I do know the Ford and NH utility tractors have been built by Shibaura for decades. They were good little tractors, and I didn"t have to work on them much when I was with NH. Almost on the same level as Kubota, in my opinion.

There are no American built compact tractors that I am aware of. Only Asian-Korean-or Chinese with American names on them. The closest thing I know of is a Terra-Mite built about 100 miles from where I live.

bison, these American tractors you are referring to are of the same horsepower they are referencing like less than 100hp? Please tell me because I haven"t seen that in 30yrs.

They've made excellent tractors in Japan for a long time. Also were resold in the USA under names like Ford.

Run fast and far, There WERE 2 fords in this
area and both lost the engine balancer. Cost
of parts near 5,000.00 plus labor and ford
can't always tell you which parts you need, and
if you order the wrong one there is no return,
then you order the other set for more money.

I wasn't realy thinking of any particulair HP,i didn't realize it that they don't build any smaller tractors here no more.
A crying shame if you ask me.

Been real happy with the Ford/NH 27 hp version I have, donno much about the grey market versions but at least the NH versions seem well made.

I have worked with a Ford LGT 145D garden tractor that had the 3 cyl Shibaura motor in it. There was nothing wrong with the motor, just has sat too long and fuel tank was gelled up. Motor was easy to work on, if you had your metric wrenches.
Good luck
