After reading allPosts , I realize I am in ERROR of the practice installing new electric fence while laying Old wire next to fence line , to pick up later ( or MUCH LATER oer never ) . The only problem SO FAR is frequently this wire will roll up and short the good line ,,. It Never Occured to me that the Dumb cows Might ingest a Clip of wire while trimming alog the fence thanx for bringing this to OUR attention ..jh

Another problem you might run into is the possibility of them getting it wrapped around a foot. It can tighten right up and do some real damage.

I clean old wire up right away after a fence project.
I also pick up any piece i see laying in the field whenever i find it.

There is nothing worse than finding a cow with wire wrapped around a foot(same with baler twine), or getting it in the haybine or baler.
