Feilder's Choice seed?

Thinking of trying quite a bit, very atractive pricing. Just talked to a rep and I can get VT3 for less than I paid for regular RR corn from current seed I plant.

I won't even go there, FC has developed a questionable reputation here. If you can get the pedigree you might be able to make a valid comparison on performance. They just haven't been consistent enough hybrid to hybrid to consider, you will end up with one top performer and 3 dogs. The savings won't make up for the 3 dogs.

I tried some this year. 6 bags of conventional and 6 of RR. RR was a disappointment, but the conventional was the best corn I had this year, even though it was intended for silage, and ended up being planted way late (June 10!). Hard to condemn or endorse it on one year's use... planning on trying about the same amount next year.

Four items not to skimp on fert., seed, planter, and combine. Buy some inferior herbicide and you may find a rescue. The other items you have one shot. Uniform results are not the discounters strong suit.

I used to buy some corn from them. Had one number that was consistently a top yielder for me. Then Monsanto bought them out, and they haven't been the same. And I won't give Monsanto any more business than I have to.

Ditto here in SD. Maybe one good hit out of 10 with them. I finally told them to quit calling me. They are as pesty as telemarketers. With Pioneer and Dekalb we get maybe one bad out of 10 . Got to go with the odds in this game of profit or loss.

Like I said, hard to base an opinion on just 1 year, but if the results are the same next year, I'll only be getting the conventional from them, if any.

I planted their corn for several years and got along pretty well with it. Then it seemed things changed. The last three years I planted it it was consistently 20 bushels per acre less than anything else I ever planted, regardless of which variety it was. If it was free it would have cost me money. Like another poster mentioned I told them to quit calling me. I can get name brand corn now for very near the same price with 100% replant with service to boot and the seed can also be returned. I'll not go back to FC. Mike
