Snow in Scotland

Snow started here early this year, sometimes we dont get any but this year is different. It's been going for arround a week and a half we probably have around 24 inches but its now beginging to compress with light stuff on top every other night. Fixed up a timber blade for my Allis B at the weekend to try to clear the drive to my house but it kinda proved a little too much for the little thing. I think I should have made a bigger version for my MF 1155. Hope you like the pictures taken near my houseand drive here at Auchnagatt. The first few are of the cleared drive but of course it built up again.

Welcome to Canada, eh! Funny thing is I live in Northern Ontario and we only have a couple inches. Southern On. has about 3 feet in lots of places, though. When you don't have the equipment to deal with it life gets a little interesting. Good Luck.

We'd better all get used to it,at least for a while. There was a story on AgDay two weeks ago that said there's been no sunspot activity for over 800 days now. They said the last time there was no activity for that long was over 300 years ago. They showed a graph showing the temperature of the sun for those 800 days and it went straight down. They said they weren't making any predictions, but that global temps had been steady to lower since 1998,now add cooler solar temps to that. I'm not counting on any warming trend anytime soon.

In the 70's we were headed for an ice age. Now we are headed for a melt down. I've always said that everyone thinks the output from the sun is constant...I think not! All the warming and cooling has more to do with solar activity. Just my $.02 input. Glad to see others think the same way.

Once again Bill, might as well be NY. After 6 months of wet weather, Dec. 1 we were flooded, it switched right over to snow, and the lake effect fired up strong and early. Now some places are measuring it in feet!
Went up this afternoon to help a buddy with the clutch in one of his airport maintenance tractors(an AC "B") He had the other B out plowing because his Dodge/Cummins 5.9L is having electrical gremlins!

Bill, Where is that.? could you give me some co- ordinates. My Paternal Great Grandmother came from Wick about the time the "Crofters" were shafted or potatoe famine. They were told to immigrate so I suspect she did.

(quoted from post at 21:47:29 12/08/10) I live on the east side of Lake Simcoe, and we don"t have enough snow to make good boot prints.

Sutton or Lagoon City area?
We are just on the northern edge of those Lake Huron streamers that are pounding London. Today the local stretch of highway between Kincardine and PortElgin was closed. The kids were ecstatic, no school.

I just saw pictures of British troops shoveling snow in Edinburgh. They looked like a happy lot. Must have had their hardtack and tea that morning! The shovels they were using appeared to be entrenching tools. Far too small for the job, but better than using their hands.

We are about 240miles south east of Wick, I have been there a couple of times. The first time was around 25 years ago then about 15 years ago to buy a tractor Fordson e27n P6 diesel. If you go to Multimap and put in AB418UH that should get you there alternatively try Google map and you should be able to hone right into my hose and garden.
