95 gehl feed grinder questions

There is a 95 gehl feed grinder at auction, but it is a good jog away. Not familiar with gehl brand we have always run lorenz and owatanna in the past. Anyway I got a few questions:

Does the feed get blown into the tank or does it have an auger below the mill that goes to the tank. I have heard gehl's blow the feed up, but didn't know if all models are like this?

What would the value of one be in average condition?

Any quirks with them, would be grinding corn and oats with it?

About what years was the 95 built?

Thanks for any information.

ran those for years 65 95 120 several loads aday. No it does not blow it in. all augers do the work. The unload auger engage was weakest part of the unit. We ground corn oats hay etc with ours later years ran it without screens for fat cattle feed so it didn't get it so fine. addatives go in the rear of machine. Watch the unload auger crank engage latch also. You can look in the tank from the lid at the top of the machine. can't be to valuable several years old by now

All the Gehl's I'm familiar with blow the feed up to that little cyclone in your picture, drops down onto a short auger that augers it into the tank.

Parts might be an issue, Gehl is only doing skid loaders any more, no farm equipment.

Bought a 95 new in the early 70s. For a number of years I ground a thousand bushels of shelled corn a month for hog feed. About the only trouble I experienced was the thrust bearing on the loading auger varable speed drive, along with the roller chain that drives that auger on its lower end. Think I also replaced the poly groove mill drive belt once in all that time. Its been a pretty dependable machine while grinding many thousands of bushels of grain. Joe

We had a 65 and it used a blower if you ran corn through the hammer mill. I think the 95 uses the blower to.

I"ve had the Gehl 65, Lorenz 100, and the Gehl 95 or 100. All (maybe not the 65, but it"s been 3 decades) moved feed with the auger under the mill, the blower just handled the dust.

That is correct. Was a test engineer at Gehl and worked on the grinders. The cyclone is to trap dust from the blower that pulls vaccum on the mill to keep the dust down. The dust collected falls back down into the tank infeed auger. They"re pretty good machines (well the newer ones are/were). A few things are hard to get to to work on. Have the doctor add a 3rd elbow if you have to work on the infeed auger front bearings without pulling the mill off. Hammers are the same design from 60 years ago so they"re easy to find. Most bearings are common. Keep oil/gear lube in mixer auger gear box (under tank) and keep her greased and INDOORS and if its not already worn out should be good for quite a while.
