Try out for YT Band

Hey Larry, I liked it, looks like everybody had a good time, what its all about anyway, right? But I think the camera person had too much coffee :)

Larry. I use to do yard band up in Superior during the summer.Kind of reminding me the folks who came to hear, eat, drink and be merry, I thought about posting my ability here but now lack the courage to do it. Not much demand for my type music. It died years ago. Doubt if anyone here ever listened to OSCAR PETERSON .Well don't mind the critics/ Bet they don't have the courage to stand up in front of an audiance and bear their soul. Thanks for the Video. Reguards, LOU

I enjoyed the tunes, but did someone have a gun pointed to the dude way in back with a white hat on? Or did he just have a few more than the camera man?

Thanks for sharing.

Rock on there Larry, thats one of the first few songs (after Cripple Creek) along with Red River Valley I could sort of play on a Banjo that someone could recognize. Im still a Wannabee long way from a Banjo picker

AH Tony. Your refreshing.!!!! Yep. RayBrown.Nelis Ornstead Pedersen(SP) Toots theilman. on and on . Sure miss em all.Where have you been?? Nice to know someone else here listens to my line of music, Now I don"t knock Bluegrass, country. Do hate Rap CRAP. Good blue grass is as close to mainstream Jazz that any one can aspire to. I did play 5 string Gibson RB 100 ,years ago. Won A triphy in the national USAF Tops in Blues Finals. (1st Place) when MEL TORME WAS THE MAIN HEADLINER. ANOTHER GENIUS in the music business. Oh Well . I truly thank you for your great post/ WARMEST REGUARDS .LOU
PS OSCAR PETERSON FOREVER.!!!!!!

That"s a top honor to win, and to be there with Mel Torme had to be one of those moments.
I can usually be found on a friday or saturday night running blues and some jazz, including Mel Torme"s Comin Home Baby. It"s my 3 hour vacation every friday and saturday night.
I hear you on the bluegrass... there"s some wicked players out there.

Ya got my toe a tappin, good job ~!!
takes a lot of wind to make one sound that good !
That particular song takes a lot of hyperventilating

Tony,Now you have me wondering just where your at in Indiana? The reason is , I Moved up from Anderson Many years ago. There are still great players there that are of my age, and still have great CHOPS. The truth be known, most of the great jazz players came from that state.ie. Was Montgomery (guitar great) from indianapolis came to mind. I use to set in with him at Mr B"s on 30 th and north western along with Buddy ,Monk and Wes.Good times for me as well. Great escape like you said. Yep Mel was something else. A great drummer, arranger, singer piano player. etc. Thanks for the memories.

You could realistically state;
No animals were harmed in the making of this film.
Nothing wrong with havin' fun, howsomever.

Well...
Now I"m in SE Indiana. Spent college years playing in Muncie. Grew up South of Indy.
My dad (also a Tony) is a top notch tenor sax player who haunted the scene in Indy from the mid 50"s through the 70"s. He also played many times with the brothers Monk and Wes. He worked with several of the groups at the time, playing 6 nights a week. I was still a pup in the 60"s. Maybe you guys crossed paths?
Don"t know how much you were involved in the scene then or when, but Larry Goshen put together a great book chronicling the groups and players from the 50"s through today of Indiana. It"s called "Let the good times roll" and there was a book opening/concert several years back (2002?) on the south side where a lot of the old groups got back together and did 3 or 4 songs. I was there with dad, as the bass man for The Dawnbeats is no longer around. What a blast that was.
Emails open if you like.

Tony

O.K. Tony. Will try and get through on your E.Mail. Sometimes it works, opther times nothing. If not I will post my E.mail .Bet you heard of Bill Fischvogt(Bill Fish) He was my Bass man for years on the road.
