How to stay warm!

Let me start by saying, I do know what cold is, I'm originally from the North. Moved here when in my mid-40's. After I moved to South Carolina, I found another kind of cold, high 30's, low 40's with very high humidity can be raw. Don't spread the news, bad for our tourism but it can be uncomfortable here! Shhh!!!

Anyway, My wife and I are avid motorcyclist, traveled most of the lower 48 states, numerous trips. I've posted lots of pics from those trips. There are a handful of motorcycle clothing vendors who sell electric clothes, entire outfits if you wish. We both have electric vests. To protect itself from loosing core temperature the body restricts blood flow to the limbs when it reacts to cold, core loss of temperature. This is why frostbite gets the hands and feet first. With the electric vest, the core stays warm, or if set on high very warm. Therefore the warm blood continues to flow through the limbs, and hands, feet etc stay warm as well. Amamzing difference!

I have a plug on my tractor, very cold days, spending a lot of time on that seat I dig out my electric vest and forget the cold. Works even better on the tractor, many more watts of power, and no 60 mph winds! (unless something went very wrong) :-(

By plug you mean cigar lighter? I have honestly never seen one on any of the tractors I've ever been around, but I understand in some areas they were very common accesories. Good idea though. Bet it works slicker'n'manure!

I just came in from wrenching on our loader tractor trying to get it ready for winter. It's somewhere in the 20's right now and with steel toe boots it gets cold out there sitting still...

Best way to handle the cold - Drink a bit of cold water. Surprisingly, in no time fingertips etc warm up.

I bet they make horses now with a plug. Genetic engineering at work. Maybe soon they'll have one with a 3 point hitch.

Well, yes you can get the clothes with a cigarete liter plug, in my case they have a 2 pin plug like a battery tender. Had to wire the plug into my tractor, but it works real well.

Right Nancy, horse will not like the plug!!! But horse is has heated seat! LOL

Cigarette lighter is one of the features that distinguishes a Moline 4 Star Super from a regular 4 Star. I think my Cockshutt 35 has one, too.

nancy, best way i found is to go somewhere warm!!!!

Forecast for Sat. night is -4. A high of 20 tomorrow with north winds 15-20 mph. That's pretty good yet compared to when they start talking -30 with that 15-20 mph wind. Then it doesn't really matter if it is damp or not, It is cold.

In WW2 the B-17 Gunners wore electric gloves (and I think more) since the planes were unpressurized and consequently unheated.
