Too Late to Seed Clover?

Consumers power has been cutting trees along the powerline. They are chipping them for fuel. The chipper is in one location and they drag the trees to it. They have left a wide trail of bare ground. Once they're done, I thought I might seed some medium red and crimson clover. I lease the section that crosses our property. I'm in southern Michigan; we just got an inch of snow. Is it too late to seed or should I wait till spring?

around here in KY we frost seed clover in late February, works real good.

don't see what good it would do to spread it now

Central MO. We always say "dark of the moon in Feb." and like to seed it on top of a little skift of snow.

You being farther north, I dont know. Check with your local extension service maybe.

I'd wait til spring Larry. It's probably not going to hurt the seed,it's pretty hard stuff, but the chance of it working it's way into the ground are about nil. Most likely you'd loose 90% of it in spring runoff.

Not to late but way to early to do so. You want to throw it out on the last snow of the year and keep it warm till you do throw it out so if melts into the snow some. You might throw out some wheat or winter oats just to give you a ground cover but not clover this time of year
