Marily goes in for an upper and lower GI tomorrow morning. This has come up really quick and I'm a little worried.

She is normally real healthy but she does have Seliacs, meaning she reacts to any gluten, even a tiny amount. Usually she gets a few sores on her arms and a slight stomach ache for a day and then it's over.

Friday she reacted in a big way to some gluten hidden in some popcorn oil (we think). She ended up in the restroom upchucking and doing the 'other'. There was a trace of blood both ways. She hasn't felt well since so she went to the doc today and he ordered the tests right away. This eve while she's been going through the lovely cleanout preparation there has been a little blood with it.

We'll see how it turns out tomorrow. I hope it's just irritation from the Seliacs reaction and nothing more. Jim

My prayers are with you. Went thru the same thing about a year ago, turned out it was a reaction to an anti-biotic my dentist prescribed. I agree, the prep is NASTY!

We will be praying for you and you wife --- my wife has the same disorder (Celiacs Disease) no Gluten, tough to eat that way everythinggggg has wheat or gluten in it

Really not all that bad a test as long as they do not find out what you hope they do not find out. That said hope all goes well. The test sounds bad but you will worry more about it then it really is. Yep BTDT and no test if fun but this one is pretty easy. If you can get by drink caulk that is

Did some reading on Celiac's disease as my sister's step daughter's 3 yr old son may have it.

It can definitely irritate the lining of the bowel and be the source of the bleeding. Could cause the bleeding in the stomach also.

Let us know how she's getting along.

Just got back from the test and she's OK. Thanks for the prayers and kind thoughts. We've been to several cancer funerals lately so we were a little jumpy about this.

There was a little esophogal (sp) bleeding, probably from the celiacs reaction but nothing else is out of order. The doc did take a couple of biopsies but he didn't mention anything about polyps.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with celiacs disease, it's a reaction to gluten. The reaction results in sores on the skin and internal sores that can break open and bleed. The internal sores can damage organs in some cases so it's nothing to mess with. Wheat is the main culprit because it's hidden in so many foods that we wouldn't suspect it to be in. Going out to eat can be a real challenge, as those of you who are familiar with it know all too well. Now we return to a normal life. Jim

My prayers go out for both of you. My wife and I went through a rough spot five years ago, She has ended up in a nursing home. We will celebrate our 60th aniversery on Christmas Day It is really hard when you pardner has a bad time. gitrib
