I was told he drove a cattlelac. Dual carbs and dual exhausts, and the deluxe horns. Each one has a built in fly swatter as well. It has 8 driving cyls on the ground.

Nice old picture of your grandfather and his animals.
Thanks for sharing.

we had a team of oxen when i was a kid...one of em died and PoPo never could find another good one...went to mules and finally a used 8N.
only thing i really remember was those oxen had NASTY backfires

always wanted a set oxen can be any breed of cattle around these parts most people used holsteins just because of quantity im told it was oxen that broke the praries because horses werent strong enough they are stronger and can work longer but slow as snails in the end you get same amount of work done so go with horses and have spare time

Nice pic , thanks for sharing.

guess ya could figure out hp by dividing their weight x 2 because two feet on the ground when working would equal Ft lbs at the tail.

I'm sure there is a scale to convert torque ft lbs to Hp.... ( er I'm sooo confused !! )

I would query the part that horses weren't strong enough,I think it could be that the ox could handle the environment better.

1 hp = 550 ft-lbs per sec

A standard work horse in england when the unit was established could through a pulley system, raise 550 lbs at a rate of 1 ft per second quite readily.

Old roy where are you from I send a lot of time at that steam show you have posted the picture of. Just wondering if we have met?

I was wondering if those oxen were docile. But, with a ring in yer nose, i guess you'd be docile, eh?!
