Transforce HT from Firestone. Best traction I've every had off road in a highway type tire with the load range I need. Seem to be wearing well too. Best tires I've ever had in terms of durability were the factory Michelins that came on my D2500. But, they wouldnt pull the hat off your head on wet grass.

i drive about 40000 miles a year i can get around 68000 out of a set of brigestones . i tried michelins this last time and when i sold the truck they had 87000 on them and still going .i have a 3/4 ton chevy with a utility bed that weighs in at 10500 lbs loaded with welder/torches/all my tools.but i rarely get off the road.

In 2007 I bought a new GMC which came with general tires. I replaced them with michelins, because my back couldn't handle the ride. Only had 500 miles on the generals. Only have 36000 miles on the michelins. I have goodyears on my car only because they came with them, good tire too.

I'll second that motion.

Any 235/85-16" load-range E that I can buy for $50 or less (used). I'm not picky, and will never pay the $150 and up many places are charging for new truck tires. Good tread and no dry-rot is all I ask for.

Around here, Cooper are the most common.

I've got four trucks that use that size, and I'd go broke if I kept buying new.

I have my trucks basically for hauling, not to be driven like sports-cars. That being said, I've had many brands on my Ford F250 and my Dodge W250. Cooper, Kelley, Michelin, etc. All rode the same on highway runs as far as I could feel, but some had better traction then others.

235/85-16" have been very scarce lately and when listed for sale use - are gone almost instantly.

It may seen hard to believe, but I have 97,000 miles on my Michelins and most of the time there's a gooseneck hooked up to the truck. The Generals that came on my truck just wasn't much of a tire. My only problem is there $235 a piece and when your buying 6 at a time..... it kinds hits you in the wallet.

I put firestone transforce HT on my f250 last spring, 09 and they have hardly any were on them at about 16,000 miles. There not good in the mud, but I do mostly highway driveing. Next time I may get the transforce AT. J

Last fall I put a set of Good Year Wrangler "Authority" tires on my truck. They make some noise, but they really hook up in snow and muddy gravel roads. Bad part is only Wal-Mart sells them.

Michelins are the best, easy to get 80,000 on a set of M/s series. I have Goodyears on one pick up because I could not get Michelins in the size and tread I needed and they wear alot faster.

Just put new set of Michelins on my 2002 f250 crew-cab, WOW what a difference! Smooth! Had firestone and a set of cooper ATR"s on it prior to. Am now a Michelin believer!!
