OT Degree symbol - Farenheit

Last year I read on here that someone said you can make the little circle (with your computer) next to a number to represent the temperature.

Can any one tell me how to do that?

Thank you,
John

I never could figure that out.
When I need to use the degree symbol I cut and past it from a Wordpad document I saved.
I think this is what you are talking about.
-23°

It's alt-0176 (hold down the "alt" key and press "0176"). Looks like this °. I included a list of many others below, or Google up "ascii alt codes".

I need to add two things to TimV"s post:
1. You need to enter the 0176 using the numeric keypad, not the numbers on the top row of your keyboard.
2. Make sure the Num Lock is on.

I just decided to test this. Our current temperature is 46°.

Woo-hoo! Thanks for the guidance. I've wondered about this for a long time, too.

I do it almost like Altradog does.I found the degree symbol online and copied it in an email and then sent it to myself. Then I saved the email for future use. When I need it I can copy it again. That is kind of a pain but it works. It is 26° right now.

Its 20° here this AM. I use alt 0167, which is §, in my lawyer biz all the time- its means "section", as in §3, paragraph 4.

I do a lot of legal descriptions, and ° is used in metes and bounds descriptions. At one time, I had it set up as alt D - but got a new computer, forgot how I did it, and never bothered to figure it out again.

The one I use most has been given, alt 0167 for degree. I also use alt 155 for the cent sign, alt 0188 for 1/4 alt 0189 for 1/2 and 0190 for 3/4.

I recently wrote down the squared 2 sign to place by a number indicating square foot or other. Visiting and on a laptop so don't have my cheat sheet.

The symbols, etc. are on the computer character map.
