D-17 hydraulics

Anybody know if some models of D-17's had recurrent hydraulic problems? I have heard that somewhere before. I need a loader tractor to feed hay at another place and I saw what looks like a pretty good deal on a early 60's D-17. Tractor wouldn't work hard, just put out hay and spread fertilizer, a little pasture clipping.

only problem i know they all have eventually is a hydraulic hose under the lift cover that blows...word of warning on that 17...if its a diesel and wont start without a whiff of ether in moderate weather...RUN

All D-17's except the series IV had the same basic hyd. system as the WD/WD45. A small 4 cyl. piston pump- high pressure/low volume. No two way hydraulics unless someone added a valve. They were OK, just limited. When AC put an all hyd. loader on that tractor they put an aux. pump on the front driven off the crankshaft.
