Ford 9N tractor

I have a 1941 Ford 9N tractor that I use for shredding grass and weeds 2 to 4 times a month here in South Texas.
For the last 2 months, after starting, it runs on 3 cylinders until it starts to warm up, then the 4th cylinder kicks in and it continues to operate normally.
Cleaning the spark plugs has not helped. The ignition wiring is 2 years old.
Any ideas?

Sticky valve?? A compression test would tell. Normally you do a compression test on a warm engine, but not in this case. Heck, holding your finger over each sparkie hole would tell whether a valve is sticking open.

Ya maybe a sticking valve and one thing that might help is add a qt of ATF to 2.5 gal of gas and run it. Also could be a bad spark plug and cleaning them does not always work well. Now if you knew which cylinder it was then switching the plugs around then you would know in fact if it was a bad plug

I agree, sticking or burnt valves. Flat heads seem to have their share of valve issues. A cold engine and low compression won't fire. Does the tractor use oil? Rings could also be part of the problem.

Thank You!, for all of the replies.
The cold engine sticky valve is the most likely problem. I'm going to try some lighter weight engine oil to see if that helps.
