Warrantty issues how do you solve them?

How do you resolve them when they get dragged out or a company does not go good on them? One local attorney suggested suing in small claims court but i doubt that would help much!!

let "bygones be bygones"?
I have never had any trouble myself. I bought a new vacuum sweeper from Sears once. They sent letters wanted me to "buy" an extended warranty. I just kept throwing them away and kept running the sweeper. That was in 1980 and I'm still running the sweeper. The letters stopped years ago.

If you bought the item with a credit card go back and file a claim/protest with your credit card.

With the exception of extended warranties on vehicles (with which I've had no problems so far...) I just assume I'm going to get screwed, just like with mail-in rebates.

I'm usually right...

Bought a computer & extended warranty from Circuit City a couple of years ago. It was a bad machine. It crashed the first time before the standard warranty was out and twice more before the extended warranty ran out. All the same problem. Had to throw a huge fit, called lots of people, and finally made them honor the extended warranty. You may have to do the same.

When I buy a computer these days, I usually buy at Best Buy, and get the 3 year warranty. Expensive, but if it pukes, you take it back, get it fixed or replaced. We had a Gateway laptop that died, at 2 years. They replaced the motherboard, basically a new machine. It ran about another 18 months, died again, got a new laptop, but not a gateway!!

had an expensive Olympus digital camera, motor seized 2 years old, had extended Olympus warranty that stated they would repair or replace at their option. Sent it in, they send me 25$ off coupon for new camera, come on it was $400.00 new, called them , they were rude, cant fix it is not a current model,OK then replace, No, finally file a complaint with my state attorney general office and magically 2 weeks later it is returned repaired. Never buy another Olympus, bought Sony camera from Walmart and Walmart warranty, it puked within 3 months of warranty expiring, they sent me another newer model, Mark

Probably doesn't help your situation but I treat ALL warranties the same---They will do everything and anything to cancel!
Had problems with CHRYSLER---BESTBUY---SEARS. Went to the TOP with no solution. My solution to this was-- Never again will I patronize these companies.
I will never buy an extended warranty!

Sometimes companies have toll free numbers for compliments, complaints, and other stuff that takes it right out of the hands of the dealers. I've never had to do that, but I've heard positive things about that from folks that have.

HOWEVER...there is no warranty our guarantee on the information that I just offered, implied or otherwise, so don't sue me.

Good luck.

I bought a computer at Best Buy and got the extended warrantee. The CD drive died so I took it in, told them what the problem was, I was told 7 to 10 days. When the time was up and checked on my computer and I was told "Oh we never said 7-10 days, we send the computers to a place in Chicago, it will be 3-4 weeks". When the 4 weeks was up they contacted me and told me they had found the problem with my computer, it had a bad CD drive, and they would have to order a replacement. When I finally got it back it worked fine, but what sort of regional repair center wouldn't have CD drives in stock?

I have bought some stuff at Best Buy since then, but I will never buy an extended warrantee from them again.

Well I found that the Better Business Bureau gave me the help I needed when it came to my aid with the problem I had with DELL . They shipped out part of my new order ,sending out, OUT DATED AND N.L.A. sound systems. They (BBB) Got involves and low and behold, I got My $23,12 back from (DELL). I can't think of a better source to help with such things. Reguards LOU.

I bought a good looking Remington 22 cal fieldmaster pump gun, fron a hock shop in Tacoma, for my son. On him trying it out he couldnt hit a piece of notebook paper. we put up a plywood size piece of cardboard, and found keyhole flyers all over the spectrum. I paid $10.00 shipping, and had a local gunshop ship it to Remington, two months later it returned free shipping, in a new gun box, with a new barrel, and sights, and some internal parts replaced. It preforms perfectly, and only cost me one way shipping. Great company!

It is no secret that "extended warranties" (EW) by and large are nothing more than a big "cash cow" for most companies. They do not push them because they have a sincere desire to replace the product should it go belly up. They push them because they make much more profit on EW than on many of the items that they sell.
I do not purchase EW in most cases. I look for products that carry good warranties in the first place.
Here is the fuzzy math that will incourage you to NEVER waste your money on one of these over priced cash cows again.
Let's say they sell an upper end laptop computer for $1,000 (their cost is less). If they have a failure rate of 5% it means 5 out of 100 that they sell is going to have some type of problem during the warranty period. If they charge just $200 for an EW, that is an extra $20,000!!!!!
Place that extra money in an interst bearing account and the interest alone may pay for the failures.<Let's assume they replace all 5 laptops (at cost, not retail so it cost them less than $5,000) br>It is insane when you run the numbers and see what they are REALLY up to when they try to make you think an EW is to your benefit.
If you stop buying EW's, if would force them to either sell better quality products or go belly up.

We just purchased a new Amana refrigerator, and
of course the salesperson tried to sell us an
extended warrenty. I said, "Why do you think I
need an extended warrenty, are they having
problems with this model?" Salesperson said that
they are "required" to offer extended warrenty"s.

Unless they have changed ALL major appliances from Wally are not covered by Wallyworld. When you pay that bill at the checkout the warrantee goes to the manufacturer not Wally. They will have nothing to do with BUT will give you a company service number to call.BTDT

My son bought a new Cub Cadet lawn and garden tractor at a big name chain home supply store in Sept. Had it 2 weeks, with just barely 2 hours on the meter. This particular day, he used it to move some brush and leaves in a cart, parked and shut it off to do something, and when he tried to restart it it, the solenoid clicked but starter did not spin. Motor was locked up and flywheel could not be turned by hand. Took it to closest authorized repair facility about 26 miles away. Their first words were "Well, you must have run it out of oil and then added it up when it would not start".

Two weeks later he was called to pick it up and was informed that the problem was caused by a rusted bendix and therefore not covered by warranty. They would not believe him when he told them the tractor had been covered with a Cub Cadet canvas cover at all times when not in use. Since he could not prove that the problem originated from before he purchased the tractor, warranty was denied. They also let him know that if he had bought the tractor from them, the repairs would have been covered. Selling chain store says they can do nothing to help.

Another reason I only buy tools and equipment from reputable suppliers who stand behind the warrantees!
