I had 2 old Whirl-a-feed blowers and a big old Davis silage mixer wagon here that weren't any good for anything anymore,so I took them to the scrapper today. I took the tires and wheels off the blowers and the PTO shaft off one of them. I'd taken most of the big chains, idlers,PTO and such off the mixer wagon. I walked away with $1,221.65!
There's an old Gehl 7200 flail chopper,a New Idea super sheller unit and a sheller for a uni-harvester that are looking pretty darned useless to me at these prices!

(quoted from post at 16:37:50 11/10/10) What is the price of scrap in your area?

$1221.65 for 2 old Whirl-a-feed blowers and a big old Davis silage mixer wagon

BWAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAA

Now I know I should have bought that Whirl-a-Feed blower (28) at an auction a few weeks back. Some guy bought it for 25 dollars and far as I could tell the only thing it needed were two new inner tubes for the tires. The re-paint job was crappy but 25 dollars?

$200 a ton for that kind of stuff. The blowers weighed just over 5000 and the mixer weighed 9800. They deducted $20 for the tires on the mixer.
Cars are $205 and short steel is $245.

Is this like in 2003-04, when China was buying good American steel as scrap, and then selling the US some crap for steel?

According to the math if the blowers weighed 5000 and the feed wagon 9800 you had 9.9 ton @ $200.00 ton you better go get the other $700.00.
