When I got up this morning, the first thing my wife said was, "Happy Birthday!"

Since you have let it be known you're a veteran, I would like to thank you for your service. Its our military that keeps us free and I appreciate that!
 
I got out as a E-5 in '68. Didn't go to any Marine Corps Balls on the 10th. I always wondered what they talked about. Maybe Smedley Butler and Sgt York. I think you had to wear Dress Blues or Mess Gear. If the USMC had given me a set, maybe I would have gone. You had to buy those uniforms unless you were assigned to an embassy, band, or a carrier. I didn't qualify for any as I had a three year enlistment. On the whole, I think it was just a dinner gathering for future lifers.
 
Tipped some cold ones with two Marine neighbors today- one reminded me of the anniversary...this Green Beret always says Semper Fi to them, and they give me a hearty AIRBORNE! in return. Mutual respect for dedicated Veterans.

Happy birthday Marines! I was Navy but never met a Marine I could not get along with or respect. Dave(Vietnam era)
