Found this of some I had milled from a walnut on our place. It sure is beatiful, no stain needed on projects, only a little polyurethane. I like to make some projects from cherry and walnut for accents for a nice contrast and both woods don't need any stain to look their best, so I can skip one step!

Part of this one has the sapwood on it and I just rip it down to get rid of it. Around knots and other irregularities in the tree you can find the coolest grain.

wow that is really nice! I remember in high school woodshop making a project out of walnut and using Watkins danish oil on it The shop teacher recomended it The wood we had was not as nice as yours,

Beautiful wood. I love walnut although it is not the easiest to work sometimes. I have some left from Dad that he had sawed about 30 years ago. I built this bunk bed for the grandkids from some a few years ago. Would hate to have to buy the wood for it.!

many years ago I built 3 walnut chests for my 3 boys. Size is 2'x2'x3' with rope handles. One chest used only the heartwood (purple colored), one was heartwood & sapwood (white) on each board & last heartwood from long-dead but standing trees, which is red. Cheez, that musta been 35 yrs ago & still in use.
