plow bottoms related to disc width

I've seen many posts over the years asking how many bottoms a particular tractor could pull, but I've never seen a relation to discs. Is there such thing as a comparable width of discs per plow bottom (1 plow bottom = 3ft of discs as an example)?
Just Curious!

Thanks in advance
Jay

Not really. Depends on what kind of disc and what you're doing with it. You can pull a lot more disc in corn stalks for example, than you can in plowed ground. An offset (kilifer disc) pulls a lot harder than a conventional disc,so has to be narrower, etc.

So if I said I just picked up a Cockshutt 1850 Wheatland and wanted to tackle the job of plowing and discing a hay field in moderately heavy clay loam, I'd look for a 4x16 plow and a ___ ft wide set of discs...

Since I happen to have the Oliver version of the 1850,I'd advise 14-16 foot in plowed ground.
