Pioneer Field Repair Fitting 4 Hydraulic hose?

Hello all: I read an older post where a Pioneer field repair fitting for hydraulic hose was mentioned.. I never heard of "Field repair" fittings for leaking hose. Google didn't turn up a field repair item so I'll ask on the tractor forum. ( I've two with problems. A steel line and a common rubber hyd hose.) Who sells this type fittings? Thanks for any info. ag

Since you have leaks you may be better off to replace the steel line and the hydraulic hose. See if you have a Colliflower or Parker hydraulic store in your area. You may be able to replace the steel line with a braided hydraulic hose. You can also get double braided
hose. They will withstand the vibration too. Hal

Most of the major hose and fittings makers have
"Reusable fittings". Aeroquip is the major
manufacturer, Parker, and others have them.
The concept started in WWII when disabled air-
planes, where ever they landed to be repaired,
only needed hose, the reusable ends were already
in place. Thats also where the JIC, ("Joint
industry conference") 37 degree flare which is
now a world aviation/aerospace standard evolved.
An aircraft landing in any country would have a
standard fitting and flared tubing available
for replacement.
Some farm stores sell a nipple thats pushed into
a hose, and a clamp is bolted in place. It's
probably ok for a low pressure system, say, 1500
PSI or less. For higher pressures the 2 piece
reusable, with a socket that screws onto the hose
and a nipple that threads into the socket is
preferable.
Reusable fittings MUST be MATCHED properly to the
hose style. Sockets are specific to 1 or 2 wire
hose.. mixing incorrect types invites blowoff
problems !

I bought a set of various size reusable fittings along with a piece of R2 3/4" hose to keep around for emergency repairs on my backhoe. I've also ordered hose assemblies from them. They're reasonable and pretty quick. Not as quick as walking into a hydraulic shop and walking out 20 mins later with a hose, but within a few days.

Hi Bob: Ya, I guess I should have varied the Google search.. but I was starting from Zero info since I've never heard of Field repair hose.
Thanks for reply.. ag

Hi Hogleg: (motor cycle related name?)
Thanks for the link.. I am starting to get the general picture.. ag

Hi greygoat: Big thanks for the background history. For old Farmall M or H or even tired 300 to 400 Farmalls might get by with the nipple that pushes into a hose and is 1200 lb pressure. (Something that sounds like it should be in my tool shed.) Interesting that your hydraulic history was aviation related because I've not heard about them.. but I always flew them instead of fixing them. Thanks again.. ag

Hi El Toro: I've got one hydraulic line that has a make-do repair with part of it rubber and the rest steel. Looks like a nice job of maybe brazing a metal fitting unto the steel tube. The routing has lots of turns and sharp corners so the factory chose all steel when built, it seems. Time to learn about some various methods of fixing,I guess. Thanks 4 reply.. ag

Hi JML755: Thanks for the link. Looks like a good idea to have a source for hydraulic fittings. I was not aware of "re-usable" fittings so I am getting a quick history so I can get my 2 problems fixed and be better prepared for next time. The local hose repair is limited so I'll checkout your link. Thanks again.. ag
