discovered a whole new world........ antisway chains on 3PH

My tractor came with 2 flat bars that one end hooked on a stud next to the axle and the other end on the emplement pin. Real PITA and would get forgot, bent, left off, etc. Stuff would still flop around some and be pretty noisy moving around. Bigger tractors have chain/turnbuckles mounted to the armand not implement pin. I finally found a set that was for the next size bigger (KatII) and was cheap enough to tinker with about a year ago.
Found a rountuit yesterday and a couple clevises and put them on (took all of 15 minutes  ). Adjusted them so things are centered and am in tall cotton. Rock whatever is hooked up and the whole tractor moves without any slop whatsoever, and the chains instead of bars allow you to spread the bars to hook things up. Prolly old news to most of you but I led a sheltered life.............

Done now,

dave, now you need to make a set of check chains for your bush hog/finish mower. they attach at the upper link pin point on the tractor and run down to the pins on the lower lift arm. set them so the implement drops the same distance every time!!

And ever better than chains is the pinned sleeve modern machines
use. I hated the chains on our IH, after seeing the light of modern
ways!

My MF has two locations so you can have it tighten the sway when
the 3 pt is up then allow sway when down (this is for
plowing/ground engaging)

the other location keeps your sway tightness the whole travel.

I'm given you that look................... I think I know what you mean but don't use anything that would need them (yet)

i have a set that came with my woods rm 600 finish mower. work real good, mower drops to the same position each time, let the hitch float, works real good.

My late Dad and I never could agree on staybars, I would put them on, he would take them off..

He had set out a few pecan trees, that were several inches at the base. I was mowing around them, and for some reason, the tailwheel flipped, and the mower jumped and cut the best one down. I was afraid he would be mad, but he laughed and said it would not have happened with the staybars had been on.. From then on, we often joked about that incident.. He has been gone for ten years now..

Yes you do Dave. That new drum mower will work better if the three point goes down to the same place each time. I have used a Reese mower and was having problems until I made some stop chains.

That's why I hang out here. I learn some neat things in between old's possum stories and the poof material. You folks'r gonna make me look smart. The neighbors get a kick out of American enginuity. Showed a couple people the chain top link and it was a real hit because they had beed just disconnecting and reconnecting fro transport/work. Was digging a post hole for the mailbox with a set of diggers I bought in the PX when we first moved in to the place. Before I was done, there was about 6 old guys watching and shaking their heads. 3 of them had me buy them a set soon after. The harbor freight quick hitch is a real head turner.
