Finally some rain to plant oats

Rain at 0500 this morning -- lasted most of the day, light and steady. The hoe drill was already on the Allis 160 so I planted 2 pastures and an oat grain patch in the rain.

Where are you at? Here it would KILL the oat sprout as soon as it started sprouting do to the sub freezing temps.

Here too much rain will drown oats. I like to plant oats into good moisture and not see any rain until it is out of the ground.

North Louisiana -- first rain in 115 days is reason for planting so late. Should still get some mid winter grazing, I have planted later than this.

Supposed to be warmer than normal so just might help some but it still isn't going to grow without rain. We got 2/10ths so we are still waiting. I do have 10 acres that came up with moisture from a 3 incher we got the first week of September. The rest was dry planted and still waiting (I hope).
