Love John Deere

I just finished getting a fuel pump rebuilt,
servicing and fixing charging system on a 2640. Have a carburetor on an A model and it was also stuck to fix out back when I get time. Have the neighbors 2440 to fix a fuel leak and service for winter. Then I just had a 2010 come in with shifter problems. I can't hardly believe that. I love them keeps the pocket book sides from rubbing together.

I have to agree with you. Seems this year has been mostly green equipment waiting at the shop doors for some kind of attention. Kind of like it myself, keeps the cob webs from building in the wallet. Haven"t looked for the made in china tag lately.

It's not just green, I got some orange and red ones that need work, just don't have the time or money to get them fixed, will have to before next spring rolls around.

Just got through repairing the wiring on a MF 180 so we had lights for pulling a hayride. "Bout drove me crazy. I have taught electronics on the college level, been a ham radio operator for 30 years, and done commercial radio/siren/elecrtonics service on emergency vehicles of all types. Had the wiring diagram from the manual and it was DEAD Wrong... What"s more, it wasn"t drawn with conventional electrical symbols.

This summer I had failures on New Holland baler, New Idea rake, Farmall tractor. All cost me time, money and more than a bit of trouble. Crankshaft on Farmall broke... That"s going to be an all winter project.

Recent windstorms took a series of antennas and the mast off my ham radio tower. Going to do a temporary repair, as complete repair will require tipping and lowering tower. In order to do that, I have to cut a 30 foot maple tree. (Was hit by lightning last year and is 95% dead, so not a real loss, but more work)

Today tried to replace bulbs on two halogen type light fixtures - both need repair due to high heat damaging the wiring. Tried to replace a flood light with a new flouerscent one - shoulder on new one won"t fit in the socket..... Seems like every thing I try to do is doomed lately!

It"s not just a John Deere thing. And I have a JD that needs work too - antifreeze is leaking into cylinder. Think a head gasket.

You all are correct, they all break, but seems this has been the year for deere. I enjoy working on them all, but no matter the color, they all require large quantities of that green stuff.
