At 3:30 I was browsing the Northern Tool website. I guess they want me to buy something as they sent me two e-mails in the last two days. Anyway all the sudden it got real dark outside and I looked out the window and it was snowing elves and raindeer, holy chrismas bat man. I stepped out the door and poped the first two pics. Five min. later the sun was back out and I snapped the third. Temp at midnite was 48.3F now it is 34.7F. Yesterday wind was out of theSSW, today its out of the NNW.

Sort of. Look at a radar loop. You'll see the lines of precip. coming off the Great Lakes. Lake effect snow. That is the main thing I despise about the weather here. It's almost always too wet, except when we have a drought. We got a 4" soaker in late August and it's been wet ever since. We get "Nor'easters" where the moisture comes off the Atlantic. We get it from the Ohio valley. And of course clouds, lots of clouds, and precip. off the Great Lakes. Usually weather comes from the west. The last two months we've had it all.

Yep, If you don't like the weather wait 5 mins. Yes we are relatively high elevation @1420ft. compared to the Mohawk Valley which is at sea level 50 miles to our east. We sort of stick up here and the clouds run into us, not near as bad as the Tughill Plateau 50mi. west of us. They get the storms directly off the East end of of Lake Ontario. The mountains and vallies around here cause micro enviroments, and snowfall is very elevation oriented.

We got a little flurry about 12:15 or so where it came down pretty hard. We're 10 miles east of Lake Ontario on the fringe of the tug hill.

Still quite a bit of corn and a fair amount of soybeans to be gotten here in the Finger Lakes area. Not just the part-timers but a number of the large scale farms. Good drying days to cut beans have been anything but plentiful here.

Same thing happened here! I tried to snap a pic but the camera wouldent pic up the snowflakes, so I got a shot of a few flakes on the red hens backs. On again off again weather! J

Woke up to snow this a.m. and snowed beyond noon. i guess we ended up with 3 inches. It was 33 degrees so was melting too. Right now it has stopped but has gone well below freezing so it would seem that it will be around awhile. Good for tracking deer but crunchy under foot!
