O/T - iMac photo rotation

I downloaded a picture from my camera - jPEG format. When I attach the photo to email, the photo appears as though I held the camera horizontal. I want it to look as though the camera were held vertically. Rotated the original photo 90 degrees, and stored it under a new name. But still the photo appears in the email as though it were horizontal.

I've tried moving the insertion point in the email body, but that doesn't affect the photo orientation.

How can I rotate the photo in the email attachment?

Sometimes I email directly out of iPhoto after I orient the photo as I want, and it seems to work.
Sometimes I insert an image from iPhoto into the eMail program, as you have described, but I don"t remember having a rotation problem.
The other thing could be convert the image to .bmp and see if it works.

Save the photo to your desktop with a name. Open the photo in Preview, go to tools and rotate it, flip it, etc. Then save it to your desktop again.

Dave,
this is exactly what I did ???

When I OPEN the rotated photo under it's new name, it looks the
way I want it; but when ATTACHed to an email it's like the original.
