Need a sawzall (translates to want one)......Better to have and not need than need and not have, right??

Got one of unsure parenthood several years ago and stripped the screw/chuck that holds the blade. Found the saw a couple weeks ago and was thinking about fixing it. went to the store where I bought it and they don't sell it anymore. Made some calls and found out that the new part would cost 35 bucks (paid 15 for the saw). Guy leaves and comes back with another sawzall new in box. Still questionable ancestry but had in big print on the box """" Germany with address and phone nember and 7yr gaurantee for 33 bucks with 2 blades and a 3 pack of replacements. Quick change blade (no screws) and you can twist the handle to 4 positions. I asked kinda joking what about the old saw and he took it and gave me 20% off the new one and another pack of blades.

Not a bad day. Think I'll see what else I can find laying around to replace............

You've turned into quite the wheeler-dealer the last couple of years. Those things can be handy. I used one on plywood to cut out irregular shapes. It did faster than a scroll saw. That sounds like my kind of deal.

One can never have enough or too many tools.
Also sounds like I might need you to do some tool trading for me, when I need to upgrade. Or do you give seminars?

Hope you didn't ask the guy any questions before buying it. Questions about their sales item does seem to perturb some folks. Wink!

You should have brought two. Keep a metal blade in one, a wood blade in the other. It saves me the hastle of switching blades when I just need to make a quick cut.

got what looks like a drill chuck on it. Spring loaded, turn it a quarter or so turn and the blade drops mout and you slip a new one in. It'd take longer to think about getting the other saw. Good point though.

Here"s how I fixed my Milwaukee when the threads stripped: put in a longer hex head bolt, nut the other side. Widen out the slot on the guide frame so you can tighten the bolt with a nutdriver.

Dewalt uses a lever to install and remove the blade. Works great, however, I cutting metal pipe, something slipped and broke the shaft. Was able to get parts from a dewalt service center. Have another sawsall that uses an allen screw and it comes loose all the time. BPIA! Big Pain In the Ankle!
