tractor oil

I"m having trouble finding SAE-20 weight oil for my Farmall super M tractor. Can I use another weight of oil or does someone know where I can buy some SAE 20. One tractor dealer tried to tell me there was no such weight.

Ever since they have made it I have used Valvoline All Fleet 15X40 in everything, except newer cars and trucks that say 5X20.

If you're looking for engine oil use 10w-30 if it's cold and the engine is in decent shape. If you live in a warmer part of the world or the tractor is tired then shoot for the 15w-40. The oils recommended in the manuals have been outdated for a long time. Finding a straight 20wt would take some serious looking nowadays. P.S. - You can use the same oil in the air filter.

Thanks for the information. That is what the manual said to use for tempatures between 20-80 degrees.

Go to your depot, they have it all listed.SAE 20 was when the Tractor was manufactured, oils have changed since.

Saw 20 weight oil at TSC yesterday in 2 gallon jugs. One jug left so some one is still using it.You can find locations on the internet.Lots of crabbing about TSC but I find them useful on many items.I used a 15% discount coupon to buy some hitch parts for my tractor.Their price on OIL DRY is less than Sams Club.
