Deer stands

Yesterday I went out to check My deer stand Its about 100 yards away from my property line. Its been there for years. And I see my A$$hole neighbor put up a stand about 10 feet from the line facing onto my land. I know where the propery line is. And he says its 10 feet farther north then it really is. I say the line is where the old barbed wire fence is. It"s down but you can still find it if you look. What really made me mad is he cleared a shooting lane and guess what my stand is right in the middle of it. I tryed talking to him this morning that didn"t go good. He said it"s his land and he would put his stand anywhere he wanted. Well I guess that will leave my stand empty I wont take a chance of that fool shooting my direction. So I put up a new stand on the other side of my land. If I am not hunting that end of my land and I don"t want him to see a thing on my land what should I put down to keep the deer away? I was thinking the day before opening day I would hang bar soap and my dirty socks down his shooting lane on my land. Do you guys think that would work?

you can buy the deer away liquid spray, i think it is coyote urine. or maybe drink a few barley pops and "water the woods!!"

Go to the barber shop and get some hair and spread it around and your neighbor will never see it but the Deer will smell it and stay away.

I think all of these ideas are good but I would not let him know you did anything. Revenge is better when you think of him sitting for hours and hours and not seeing a thing. After a few years of no luck he will move on and you will have your spot back. Letting him know you did something will just cause him to do something back anyway.

Drink some beer water the fireing line or the trail, used ladies napkins, human feese.
math balls.
IT works great I know I have done it.
Find the trail and redirect it. If you know what I mean. That works great .
Good luck

# 1 put up a no trespassing sign and also put that fence back up even if all you do it pull what it there up and nail it to the trees etc. If it is old fence line and you put a fence back on that same line he can not do any thing about it. Oh if you want the deer to be gone from that area when ever you need to take a leak take it in that area. Also if you have any marigolds growing cut them and put them in the area deer hate the smell of them. But as I said the first thing to do it the sign then you have legal ways to kick his butt and all it takes is one picture of him onyour land and he can be in it deep

don't leave the box.you don't whan't him to start doing the same to you.if he sees anything amiss he will know it's you doing it so be very discreat.I don't find human urine makes any diference to deer.I think moth balls might work but try to cover with leaves or grass, same with hair.Hair won't take long and the deer will be back.Do this all on your property not crossing onto his.If he smells a moth ball and finds it on his side you could be in more trouble than you want to be in.

White tail will flare on anything new for about a week so put something different by your old stand and that will really slow down the action. Is a fact a friend wrote this master thesis on white tail deer habits and reactions.

Hill-Billy Rock-Star,
Agree with Old. Get a fence up as quick as you can. And make sure you can document that the fence is on the property line. Maybe get a survey for that area. When I bought my property it was surveyed but neighbor moved an iron to their benefit. I knew it was wrong and put up a fence on the line. Neighbor questioned it, so I paid a couple of hundred to have the iron reset by the surveyor. Took LOTS of pix of the correct location. Haven't had any problems since.

It is time to get serious. Carcasses and guts repel deer and anything else on legs. If you can find a dead skunk you get extra points. Carcasses attract coyote and other scavengers. Deer will stand clear. If buzzards are not circling your good neighbors stand , then you have failed.Had a bow hunter on our property line facing our field. We commenced to start all our bird hunts at that spot. I also tested the shotgun 2 or 3 times when we would start hunting. He cleared out from the old , "Property Line Stand" , real quick after that.If you get a deer , I'd clean it right there where he is hunting. You need blood on the ground my friend. Good Luck.

I guess it's too late for the two of you to sit down on a tailgate with a thermos of coffee and come to a friendly agreement. . .

These stories make me really appreciate my good neighbors.

Sorry you're having difficulties.

This thread reminds me of a spat I had with my brother a few years ago when he wouldn't let me hunt on his land any more. I sold it to him no less. Big mistake.
Anyway,
I was going to save my urine in gallon jugs for a month or so before deer season. Night before the opener fill a bunch of baloons from the jugs. I even thought how I could make a big sling shot from bungee rope and square tubing in the stake pockets of my pickup.
His 40 acres has roads on three sides. I was going to ride in the back while my buddy drove the pickup and plaster the perimeter of his land with whizz bombs.
I never did it. Never will. But I still don't talk to him any more.

1. Hire a survey crew. to plot the land 2. Build the fence and 3. Notify the game Warden that someone is hunting your land without permission. In these times if you don"t protect and cover your :), your the one that will end up being scre.....d. Good Luck with whatever you decide to do.

Do not do any thing really stupid But......
While at the barn the next couple of days just save your Pee in a gallon coffee can with a replaceable lid when you get about a gallon saved go throw it accross the fence nearby, in close prox of this guys deer stand, Deer will not come close it will stop deer in their tracks. The water part will dry up and leave the scent, No DSL to contaminate the soil and you get in a real mess.
Hope this helps.

Things used to be a whole lot nicer in the country before Deer made their comeback as people get more upset about messing with their hunting than they would if the fella took their wife to the beach for the weekend.Pretty silly really.Personally I'd build the guy a stand to hunt out of if he'd get rid of the deer on my farm. They're worse than rats and groundhogs combined.

Also all the ideas about leaving human scents around are a waste of time deer are so used to humans now they pay no attention. At a subdivision I cut hay next to I saw a buck lying on the carport of a house several times finally figured out he was after the leftover dog food.

Cheap perfume. I had a run in years ago with folks sneaking in on land I had permission to hunt. I sprinkled cheap perfume in about a 50 yard circle around the stand I found. I hunted about 1/2 mile away. Never heard any shots over there all season.

"I was going to save my urine in gallon jugs for a month or so before deer season."

UD--you could have bottled it and sold it for "Buck Lure" to all "dem city boys from down in da twin cities area, eh?"

This "deer hunting craze" is getting worse each year....since "antlers" became a big bucks business (no pun intended)

I set my land up just for the deer. 200 acres of it is tillable farm land, corn or soybeans (It was corn this year.)The other 200 acres is woods and swamp. I left corn standing in good areas for the deer. 8 raised box blinds and 12 tree stands. Made trails threw the swamp and woods that the deer use. I leave 20 acres of woods and swamp that nobody is to go into. 5 acres of chest tall grass. I planted small food plots all over. All Bucks must have 4 points on 1 side to shoot and the last weekend of gun season is doe"s only. Last year their where 2 bucks in the 140 class takin a 10 pt and a 12 point. The year before My buddys daughter she is was 14 took a 13 point. We shoot lots of nice deer.

Just park your truck by your old stand on opening morning. Or maybe park an old tractor there and just let it run all day.

Well Whooooopie!!! How'd the horn soup taste?
A young doe will eat better than any buck. What a waste of $$$ I could kill a couple deer every day of the year just chacking the cattle.

Eat 4 cans of Hormel chili wash it down with a 12 pack of budwiper and climb into his stand and take a external_link...works every time.
