Summer's over I guess . . . here comes snow . .

Hit 10" of snow last week while at one of the high peaks in the Adirondacks, NY. This morning, it started snowing here lightly, 130 miles SE. No big deal, but I guess we better start digging up our potatoes. 29 degrees F this morning, and the ground won't stay soft for long.

Summer just won"t quit here. Predicted hi for Monday is 90. Yuck!

At least we"re supposed to get some rain tonight and tomorrow. Its been very dry this fall.

Better get some help splitting that wood, John. How far away are those adult children ?

Believe I'll just stick with the rain, thank you- only time the ground is hard here is September, after no rain for a couple of months. We've had a spectacular "Indian Summer" here for past 2 weeks, but its coming to a close this weekend. Ground should be softening up nicely soon.

I've heard of that "snow" you're talking about.

Don't see much around here very often.

Looks like you've got a good stockpile of firewood for this winter.

Really have enjoyed all the photos you've been posting lately.

Thanks for sharing them with us.

yep...fall started out nice in s Tx but it sure turned into summer again...had a couple lil showers go past this mornin...hope we aint settin up for another drought.

They're are in the West Minster/Longmont area in Colorado. No help for me here. Hec, they have probably forgetten what a hardwood tree even looks like.

Jde. Was saying to my son how nice it wouild be if a person only had one thing at a time to complete, rather then a whole bunch of stuff pressing on time factor to get it done. Sure hope you have some decent days, with a warm up in temps to help the wood splitting job ,and nothing else breaks down or needs imediate attention. Even with our wood up and stacked. there is still a whole lot yet to do. Like cleaning up the equiptment, tarping it all, and doing oil & grease changes on the plow truck & tractor . Son is gonna put on the tire chains on the 706 just in case the ford gives out.It truly is a shame we aren"t closer to you so we could give ya a hand. (that statement is NOT LIP SERVICE) just fact. When the work chores fall on Just one individual, it sure becomes a mountain of work ,in a short time. The older one gets, the harder it becomes. I sure hope you have time on your side before the big ones hit. Thanks for the pictures. I always enjoy photos posted. Warmest reguards LOU& VICTOR.

I thought I'd had a few weeks of some nice Fall weather about 60 miles SW of you.

Hay Jd
It did the same on my side of the ridge too. Sure am glad we buttoned up the garden last weekend. We haven't had Indian Summer yet so we have something to look forward to around here until spring.

It snowed last night here as well. Not right where I'm located but 10 miles away. The worst part was that it was cold enough to stay most of the day.

Someday a whole bunch of us are going to come down and visit you for Halloween, and maybe Thanksgiving, and maybe Christmas/ New Year........... what can we hang around for in Jan/Feb/Mar ?

We had our first ice in the birdbath this morning but no more for the next few days. It is so dry here in central Ky. I havent mowed anything since early Aug. we need rain snow something, O well be complaing about mud or snow soon enough!

And I was complaining that it was getting cold here in NH!! At least we haven't had snow here. Mt Washington, NH, had a substantial storm a week or so back. You can keep it for a while.

Baled some late cut third crop today, or tried to. Wind was so strong that the windrows blew around as soon as the hay was raked. And trying to round bale it with the Hesston was a joke as a lot of it blew off between the pickup and the belts. Guess I'll finish the field tomorrow with squares. Then one more piece to cut back here at the farm. Everyone is cutting anything feedable here this fall- been the 5th dryest April-Oct period since the early 1800s and hay is scarcer than hens teeth!!! Pastures are shorter than a well manicured putting green.

I'm not the original owner of the "Tweety Bird." I bought the Blazer from a hunt-camp nearyby for $150, and it came from somewhere around Long Island, NY. Only has 40,000 miles on it and no seats in back. Just boards for hunters to sit on, while they cruise and shoot deer, I guess.

I first bought it just for the drive-train. Has a 305 gas engine, cast-iron transfer-case, and cast-iron four -speed manual trans along with 3.08 axles. Found out that it runs so good, I don't have the heart to cut it up.

Front fender has Tweey Bird and also reads H & J Landscaping, whoever they are or were.
