Canvas tarps

I have 2 questions. First what is the best way to care for a canvas tarp so they last and what type of glue should I use to glue a patch on? Thanks in advance.

keep em dry while in storage and in a mouse proof room.
we used Elmers glueall and a big phone book to hold patch down while it dried.

If you know some one in the military ask them they have a water proofing and a glue that they use for there tents. I know I wish I could get some of the stuff for my M1950 army tent that I have set up out back

Along the line of what Rich said, try some army surplus websites for tent patching materials. Two that I can think of are Colemans.com and Armysurpluswarehouse.com. Those two are a couple of the biggies. They just might have something, then maybe not. Jim

SON was reading your post and made a suggestion to inquire at truck stops for patching/sealer for tarps. Hope this helps. LOU& VICTOR
