timing marks

blew head gasket,putting back together, but can not find timing marks where they are supposed to be. pulled front clutch housing plate , pulled hand hole plate no can see Bob

What you working on hard to help you with out that info. That said if it has a hole for the timing marks you might spin it over and spray carb cleaner in so as to clean the flywheel off to be able to see them

If all you took was off the head, the timing is not an issue. Beyond that, you need to ID the engine.

Some of the old flat heads you have to pull the distributor to pull the head off and if one of those then yep he need to get it back in time but with the lack of info hard to know what the heck he has
