Finished the beans

Finished cutting the soy beans Saturday. The field in the pictures is 50 acres. It made 35 bu acre which is pretty good for double crop here in Kansas. Some of the other wasn"t quite as good. This ground caught a couple of rains the other ground didn"t. Pretty happy for the turnout as well as price. Drilled about 50 acres of it into wheat. Sunday put the combine and drills up, and should be pretty much done until spring. Turned out to be a pretty good year, except I sold my wheat the the rock bottom. Can"t win them all I guess. LOL! The truck is a 1977. It is in pretty good shape, very low miles. It has been a handy one for sure. Plus the power steering is nice. Our other truck is a 1968 GMC, and sometimes the not having power steering can work a person to death.

thanks for sharing the pics. i also love the cab over, they had 1 on the dairy i worked on as a teen except it was a white. i love to see the pics of wheat and beans as i don't think anyone in ct grows beans or if you even can. they do grow some wheat just north of us in mass.

The farmers around here Central NY, haven't really started the beans yet. I'm thinking there is going to be a lot of header loss though. The bean pods developed at about 1" off the ground all the way to the top of the stems, and with wetter weather setting in it will be hard to keep the header that close to the ground without hogging in a lot, especially on the sidehill strips.

Nice looking truck Bob, I have her twin cousin sittin in the shed, just bought a 76 C600. Nice looking beans, especially for double crops!
