Taking a few days of to relax and get away from work. Weather not very good but what do you expect at this time of year in Scotland. Temperature today about 10C. Dont suppose you guys have heard of the Loch Ness Monster but just thought I would post a picture of it anyway.

Havent made it all the way up to Inverness, but have been to the South end of Loch Ness twice, beautiful country. Drove from Pitlochery (sp) over to there to see Nessie, then South down to Loch Awe. Love Scotland. Would love to get back there one more time. Thanks for the pictures. Tom

BILL,Scottland is pretty .Wish I could visit, but then thers you guys that save this old frame a lot of stress from traveling. Swell pictures. For those who post pictures. I say Thanks forever. I get to travel at you fellows expense.(makes me sound cheap, doesn"t it?)lol. Looks to me like the beauty the GOOD LORD made for man, hasn"t been ruined yet. I"m truly greatfull for people who keep the beauty of such in respect. Thanks Again for the pictures.
Rreguards LOU.

Beautiful country.

My great-grandfather immigrated from Scotland.

Lots of folks over here know about Nessie. I"ve watched some documentaries about trying to track down the old girl.

Almost everybody knows who Nessie is, even some of the kids in my high school classroom. Those are great pictures.

The stone walls in the UK/Scotland seem to stand for centuries. Do they have to be repiled every so often? A fella from Britain moved to this area a few years ago and went to work building stone walls around his place, just stacking them up, no mortor. They did not survive the winters well. Lots of stones fell out of the wall. In fact whole sections would fall down. I assumed it was the freeze and thaw cycles we have here did them in while in Britain that didn't happen.

Beautiful countryside there in Scotland.

Looks like you're enjoying the time off from work.

Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

Great scenery around there. I've been to Inverness, Isle of Skye. Took the A890 around the top of the world there. Took a big loop from Glasgow around to Edinburg. Yup, even ate a little bit of hagis.

Back in the early 90's I was posted in Aberdeen and spent a lot of time up at Fort George. I always enjoyed being up north. When the mod decided to start almagamating and scraping all the old regiments I decided to never go back.I like to keep my memories happy of time now gone.

Lived in Scotland for 2 years in the early 70's and Newcastle for a time in early 80's. My wife of 50 years, and I, agree that was the best of our 22 homes! Great folks, beautiful sights, good fishing (if you could afford it or get someones permission).

Thanks for the pics.

I live 24 miles north of Aberdeen at a small place called Auchnagatt, dont suppose you ever passed through.

Thanks for the pics! Wife wants to see Scotland (me too but we can't get away together) but don't want a bus tour. Is it safe to send her alone and let her rent a car and drive around a few days?

Dave

Yes should be fine but the weather this time of year is begining to deteriate and she might get frosty roads or even snow. Better to leave it until spring summer if possible. She will be driving on the other side of the road and there are still much less auto cars than manuals if that"s a problem.

Stone walls stay up for many many years over here unless cattle start on them even then it's very seldom you see any damage. Does seem starnge they dont stand with you guys, I always remember my father telling me that when he was a boy they walked the 3 miles to school along the top of the stone dykes when the roads were full of snow (then dint or dont alwys clear them that fast), the particular one he talked about was around 4 feet wide along the top. Lots and lots of stones gather off the land over the years. Where I was brought up Netherley there are lots of stone, bad news for plows when using big tractors.

Actually I've was all over that area during the Gordons 200th aniversary. A good friend of mine is from Oldmeldrum and another lives in Huntly.
