What an experience today

I took a load of scrap iron in today. A man ahead of me was trying to unload a car from his dolly. I volunteered to hook on to it with the front of my F150 and pull it back off the dolly. Well before I could get back in my truck he jerked his truck forward and my son turned the key on in my truck to listen to the radio and it was in 1st gear. Well my truck started and ran right in to the back of that guys junk car. I was lucky all it did was knock the license plate off my truck. If that car was street legal it would have bee in need of a whole new rear clip. Never fails when you try to help some one.

Just be thankful no one was hurt.. Sounds like something that would happen to me.. Remember "No good deed goes unpunished"

I used to haul a LOT of scrap.. one time, I took a load in on my 84 F250 and the pickup bed trailer I used to use.. I was in unloading and so was a guy with a larger truck that had some cars on it. They magged or used a loader to unload him (Can't remember which, it's been every bit of 7 or 8 years ago now) and he went to leave.

He apparently had a electrical issue, as he had a super nice (HAHA) unit that you had to open the hood to start it.. (Ya, I guess we've all had one of those at one time or another)..

I just wish he'd have took it out of reverse before he climbed under the hood.. and so did my F250.. and my beat up trailer.. I probably should have just scrapped both units there and then after that, but they hauled a couple more loads while I looked for a different truck.

The only other thing I remember from that day is for a fat kid, I sure moved fast.. I went over the bedrail and then jumped over the other side of my truck to keep from getting pinned by the larger truck.. another few seconds and I would have just been getting into my truck, and who knows what would have happened if that was the case.

Just felt the need to share my story, after seeing yours.. Good news is, in either situation, no one was hurt.. and in both situations we learned something..

How old is your son? Good thing you, or the other guy, weren't hooking a chain or something on the junker. Either of you might not be here to talk about it. I think you need to be having a talk with your son. Sounds like you got lucky it wasn't more serious. Dave

I disagree to that statement.I help anyone that needs it and allways wish them the best and I have to say exept having a grouchy highway man give me s..t for pulling someone out of a ditch I have never been dun in.I will keep being the good samariten because that's the only giftGod realy gave me and I will put it to the best use possible.
