kawasaki mule

A family member purchased a mule 2510 at a state auction a couple months ago, and when he got it home it seemed to be underpowered. He wnated me to take a look at it so I did. I put new plugs in it , a new gas and oil filter and cleaned the carb as good as I could. And I also put some additive in the gas. The air filter was oiled up bad, and when I checked the oil, It was way overful. I drained the oil and filled it to the fill line on the stick, cleaned up the filter area, and started driving it. It seemed to gain more power the more you drove it, and the better half drove it most of summer. Itseemed to run fair, but then it started doing the same thing as it started out. I pulled the plus and they where dirty but not oily. I cleaned them and put new gas filter onThis helped but it is still underpowered. Motor sounds good, and doesn't get hot, just needs more power. Could it be the governor, a circuit board, or what. If anyone knows any thing about a kaw mule I would appreciate your thoughts and input. Thanks in advance T.D.

Check and see if it has a screen type spark arrestor in the exhaust pipe, have seen these plugged on JD gators causing low power, just a thought.

make sure to take all the slack out of timing chain too...they say automatic adjuster but i never saw one that did...theres a flange on back side of cylinder with a rod sticking out and a 10mm head bolt out the side...loosen the 10mm and push the rod in and tighten bolt...you may need to tap rod a tiny bit if engine has alot of sludge.

The belt on my grandkid's manco go-cart was worn 1/16 inch. Couldn't tell by looking at it. Changing it made a world of difference. Look at the belt for make and numbers and go shopping on line for one. I found there was a big difference in price for the same belt. LOL
