OT simple pleasure

just had a bowl of freshed picked turnips from the garden, peeled them ,cut them up, boiled them until soft, put some butter,salt and pepper on them , nothing fancy about that, but I really enjoy them.
 
Larry, I love your pictures and admire your garden, but, buddy, you can have ALL the turnips. In fact, I'll send ya what the sheep don't eat.

Just never cared for turnips or parsnips or rutabaga or eggplant or anything out of that family of "food".
 
I like most vegetables, but never really had much contact with turnips or rutabagas. So last winter, I got one of each, boiled 'em up, put on a little butter, salt and pepper, and ya know what? They still weren't worth eating, IMHO. So its back to the broccoli and Brussel sprouts.
 
I favor rutabagas,always put one in stews.i remember helping a friend pick turnips and loading them on a horse drawn wagon.Then we rolled them down a board chute into the house cellar.When the last one went down Howard said what the sheep dont eat the family will.
