shop heat with an electric boiler

Just want to throw out a question on heating my shop. its 40x60x14. I"ll have R19 walls and R40 in the ceiling.

Heres what I am thinking. I have geo-thermal heat in my house, that gives me a very favorable electric rate. Why not put an electric boiler in my barn and a few radiators along the walls?
Or is this too big of an area for electric?

To keep it tractor related, this heat will keep my tractors and dozer warm this winter, and me.

depends on how deep your pockets are
once the power company sees that demand hit they will raise your rate
not to mention you would need a new elec service to your shop for the boiler
how about extending your geothermal out to the shop, using the same well and another unit??

Set it up the way you want it. You can heat the water however you want. Electric being the cleanest nut maybe not the cheapest.

I have a shop building that is 40x50x17. It cost me about $340 to heat last winter. I have an inner room that is 16x22x10 that I keep at 50 degrees, and sometimes higher depending on what I am doing. And the rest I keep around 40 degrees most of the winter here in NH.

Hmmm....
Thinking LP might be a better option. Just sized up an electric boiler, 24kW. 100amp @ 220v.

Looks like option 2 is back to setting an LP tank and installing a radiant tube heater. Or looking at another geo-therm unit.
