dipstick on 1950 B John Deere Tractor

Some older tractors, including JD, used level plug(s) instead of a dipstick. Located on the side of the crankcase.

Been a while since I've owned a "B", but I think you'll find a check point under the clutch pulley on the right hand side of the tractor. You open it about a turn with a wrench. Oil will run out if it's full, if not, add oil 'til it does run out and always re-tighten.

I humbly suggest that you purchase a manual for your tractor - there'll be more problems that will be easy and interesting to solve with the help of a manual.

Best wishes,
Paul

It's right above the casting p/n , and under the clutch, and it takes a 3/4" wrench. If you are gonna change the oil , it's a WIX 51242 Filter.

A word of caution, only oil until it just begins to drip. If you add until it is a steady stream you will have other problems.
