any one know how to turn down a in line injection pump, it was turned up when we used it in the field and it smoked all the time now its just a loader tractor an i want to turn it bac down

You don't need to turn it down. When used for light work it will never get up against the "smoke screw" anyhow.

The only time the extra (beyond stock) amount of fuel is injected is when it's pulling it's guts out.

There is another problem as it couldn't be overfueling at idle or the rpms would come up as a result of more fuel, cause thats how a diesel works, more fuel more rpms. I suggest you get a compression test and pull the injectors and have them looked at as there is a reason for the incomplete combustion you are experiencing, as the other poster said you shouldnt be able to tell the difference except when you are using all the power it will put out.

As Emi has pointed out.It can't overfuel at idle. You are missing the most basic premise of diesel engine operation.
The engine is likely worn out from not only many hours, but also from the extra heat and pressure an overfueled engine endures.
Is there concerns about "snorts" of smoke upon acceleration until the turbo spools up?
Are the turbo seals and bearings worn?

Just for information, there are 4 screws on a cover plate on the back of the pump (need a 10mm wrench). Take the cover off, inside is a screw with a jam nut that also takes a 10mm wrench. turn screw out to lower max fuel, turn it in to raise it.

I agree with the other posters though, you probably got other issues if it is smoking without working the tractor. Check the easy stuff first, air cleaner, fuel filters.

Then maybe look at getting the injectors checked, they might be slobbering fuel,

Then maybe a compression test, then maybe have someone set the valves, then maybe an OH....
