I broke my ankle the 29th of Sept. I thought it was sprained...worked on it for 2 days. Saw the Doctor Oct 1st. X-rays showed it broken. They installed a soft cast...do not use the foot.Saw an Orth doctor Oct 4th. I need surgery...My wife started to cry when he told us that. We have 2 weeks in Branson. We are meeting friends..this is our 10 year anvs. This doctor when he heard that moved his staff to fit me in Oct 5th. He raised hell on his end..then we could not find a local doctor to check me out her for surgery. We could hear him raising his voice. This sucks beans are not combined yet. I have a plate and 6 screws holding the break. Lots of pain pills and ice. Looking for more leg room......How hard is it to pull the front seat out? This is a 4 door. Then I'd just sit in the back and elevate my foot...Looking for hints..mnjoe

If it is like the last GM I took a seat out of, there are 4 captive bolts fastened through the floorboard. Nuts are above the floor and seat brackets. May be a bit of a task to access them. Nuts also have distorted threads, so they will turn hard all the way off. Rachet wrenches, like gear wrench recommended. You probably will find an electrical connection for seat sensors too - usually unplugs at the carpet below the seat. Seat should lift right off the bolts. Oh, and don"t forget the seatbelt brackets which may be attached to seat. Not recommended activity for someone with a broken ankle.

Might be a dumb idea, but some GM seats fold forward. My HHR does this, I don't know about Impalas.

Its still warm out and U-Haul rents roof top luggage racks. Could toss a couple of pillows in one and ride up there kind of like a motor scooter side car, except up on the roof. Think about it, a pair of googles, walkie talkies so you can tip off the wife when you see stuff coming up over the tops of cars in front of you on the interstate and stuff. Of course, duckin for low over passes could be a problem if you're not paying attention.

Seriously though, wouldn't be possible to sit sideways across the back seat for a short while?

Good luck. Walked around a couple of days on a broken ankle that needed surgery? YOUCH!!!

I removed both seats from my 2002 9C1 Impala. They should only have two bolts holding the seats down. If my memory is right, the two bolts are at the front of the seat rails. Once they're removed, lift the seat and pull it forward. The back is only clipped in place, and will slide out easily. Dont forget the SRS sensor wiring under the seat. The passenger seat is only manual, so its not -as- heavy, but I'd find a helper given your condition.

Hope this helps,
