I am ready to buy rims and tires for my 55 Chevy.
What is the feeling of polished alum vs chrome.
There is chrome plated alum and alum/steel. They will be 5 spoke probally American Racing Torq Trust or Rev D100. Considering the price of the wheels I only want to buy them once.

I've seen quite a few of the chrome plated, aluminum wheels with the chrome severly chipped and even flaking off, and most of those wheels were less than one year old.

Make sure the polished aluminum wheels are clear coated. Polished aluminum finish corrode.

The next set of wheels I buy will be chromed plated. Easy to clean and shine up.
