Hi have a oliver 88 rc thats lost oil pressure. Hooked manual gauge and very little pressure less than 20 psi. removed pan and found a metal gear tooth and some debris. Any one have ideas of what could have failed, maybe something with a gear of course.( TIMING,OII PUMP,) the pickup screen was clogged and think it is starving for oil.

You"ll have to find where the tooth came from. The screen being clogged may be your oil pressure problem. Can"t make oil pressure if you can"t get the oil into the pump.

Well pulled the front cover and found all of the gear teeth stripped off the governor gear which sent them trough the cam and crank gear. I don't know how the the thing was even running? I am guessing the teeth just gave up after that many years. Where can u get new gears, I have tried google and cant really find any NEW gears?

Bought an 1850 gas that had done the same thing. Governor shaft had broken causing the governor drive gear to run out of line with the other gears and slowly broke all the teeth off the cam gear. I bought a used matched set from Maibach Oliver in Ohio.

Good luck.
