Pros and cons John Deere 2630

Am looking at a JD 2630 with a brand new Allied loader, seems to be in good shape and everything works but would like a little input from guys who have or now own one. Weak points, strong points etc. Starts great, gears are quiet ,hydraulics seem fast and strong. Just looking for advice and possibly a going price for something like this. Sorry hour meter was fogged over so am not sure about the hours, but high hour machines don't really scare me.

We sold them new, and most are still around being used. No major design flaws that I know of. Just the things typical to almost all Deere tractors with closed-center hydraulics and cold-cranking problems.

Some Deere people do not like German or Dubuque tractors with the "two stick" transmissions, that's all. Nothing wrong with them, just not like a Waterloo Deere with a Syncrhorange or Powershift.

The only thing that can be more of an issue with the 2630, then some others, is if it has the optonal hydraulic independent PTO. The steel trans-pump lines can vibrate and fall out - but not a big issue. Most were updated and fixed. Also, if you use a brush hog without an over-running clutch, you can break off the automatic PTO brake-band pretty fast.

Also, the 300 series four-cylinder engine has twin balancing shafts - unlike most Waterloo tractors that use a gear-box for balancing four-bangers. That is, except for the 2510 and 2520 Deere "hybrids." If those shafts are worn, the engine will lose oil pressure once it gets good and hot.

A man that custom bales near me has had a 10 foot disc mower on a 2630 for at least 15 years and cuts around 1200 acres a year with it. He has had the usual assortment of hired hands drive it over the years and its still going.

You have been given some very good advice already and all I can add are a few thoughs
as a owner of a 2630 now for 18 years.
This 2630 has been a very good tractor even though it has needed some work from time to time.
I had it overhauled at 6500 hours due to leaking O rings on the bottom of the sleeves and that was about 1000 hours ago. It is important to
keep good track of the antifreeze and change often so you can avoid the problem of pitted sleeves. Use only John Deere's Hy Guard in the transmission as some other lubes can break down the brake linings. I have a Deere 145 loader
on this one and it is a handy unit. At 70 hp
the tractor does everything I need from it.
If you don't mind a utility tractor where you straddle the transmission it will do fine.
I had a 3010 before and did miss the platform
for awhile. This one has the HY Low option and I love it. The option gives 16 forward speeds and 8 in reverse. Good luck with the 2630
should you go ahead with the deal.

Does the loader frame brace the front, engine block, bellhousing and rear axle together? Or do the loader mounts just bolt to the bellhousing?
How are the loader hydraulics connected to the tractor?
