Baked hay for the neighbor yesterday and the tractor and baler never missed a lick. Well today baled my hay and from the get go problems. To start with the flywheel shear bolt had fallen out at some point so no go on the baler. Put in a new one and off I went. Got maybe 10 or so bales done and the shear bolt had lost the nut and yes I had tighten it up. Put on another new one but this time with a lock washer. Got almost done and the D-17 ran out of gas. Go figure I had put 5 gal in yesterday and just did a little over 100 bales and drove it 3 miles then today at around 95 bales on my place it ran out. Guess that is not to bad 200 bales of hay and about 3 miles drive on 5 gal. of gas. And the NH271 only missed one knot and that was when it switched from one roll of twine to the next

Ah but I do not believe I this jink thing or superstition since I have a good number of black cats LOL but yes the D-17 other then running out of gas didn't miss a lick

I had one of those days too,Old.See my semi brakes post. 4430 on the auger wagon showed plenty of fuel.Gauge has always worked--ran out of fuel when loading the trailer.Only a small amount of fuel in the tank on the service truck.Auto reel speed controller on the 9550 combine quit right afer that.Found one of the semi driver tires had a hole in the sidewall a bit earlier. And the wife wondered why I quit a little early tonight.lol.

Yep the joys of having old equipment and all but hey to me this is a hobby not a job and with the equipment I have when I got it they where wore out but me I forgot that they where wore out and I just keep them going for the fun of it but yep can be a pain. Next Saturday I get the fun of taking my nephew to a car/truck/motorcycle/tractor show. If all works out I'll take my 1935 JD-B ans my 1976 Honda CB360T to the show and cross my fingers that I win a kick in the but LOL

i bet that raccoon or that opossum stole a little bit of gas from the d17 thats why you ran out a little short today darned varmitts anyway.
