its getting that time Again for below freezing temps ,, I have at least 10 out there that have lost coolant thru the year and i wonder where the Best deals are for antifreeze,thanx jim

Here in my small town, our local service/oil change/tire repair place gets "recycled" antifreeze from his oil supplier..

Last fall, I bought 10 gallons of it, 4 bucks a gallon.. and my tester says it's good for right around 30 below, so bout the same as new, but even if it was only good for 10 below, usually we don't get that cold, and the way all my stuff leaks/drips/seeps, I think it works just fine..

Might be worth lookin into.. if he's sellin it for 4 bucks, he must get it even cheaper I'd think.. even though he has to buy a barrel at a time

Ever thought about fixing the leaks/problems that cause you to need so much new antifreeze?

Campbell Supply here is SE. SD. has Prestone regular for $1.99 gallon after rebate. Regular $8.99 before rebate. Going to pick up a bunch and stock up. Second time this summer they have had a deal like that. I bet that rebate is a national thing. I will check that out.

In my case, it winds up in derby cars and the like.. Can't run anti-freeze to derby (well, could I guess.. but what a waste) and sure don't wanna put a small block chevy into storage with the chance of water still in it..

As for the tractor that uses it... It's a mystery use.. Shows no signs of seeping or leaking, and the plugs don't show a sign of burning it.

I was at the local car junk yard & got 7 gallons. I gave him $5.00 for pumping it after he said He didn't want anything. It looks clear & I just use it to top off the tractors.

If you can get full strength for around 8-10 bucks a gallon, that is a good price, you can mix it 50-50 yourself and save some money.
