landscape rake?? Brainstorming

Hey folks,
I've got to level out some ruts and hoofprints to get ready to lay some grid to enlarge a couple paddocks and just tidy up around feeders throughout the year. Almost bought (and still may) a 6ft back blade but after seeing pics of a landscape rake, thought it may be a better choice. Nearest thing I could find to one here looks a little flimsy and costs just over twice as much as the back blade.

I have several pieces of steel I beam (2x4) and several old harrow fields that I replaced with a new chain harrow. If I just weld up a triangle for the 3PH (with a plate to hold a 5gal bucket full of concrete that I have for a weight) and then weld a 5ft (width of my tractor) piece across the bottom with holes to bolt the harrow spikes, would it serve my purpose?
If so, how far apart should I put the spikes?

Thanks, Dave

Sounds more like you're talking about a Gil soil pulverizer than a landscape rake. A landscape rake looks similar to a rear blade but has spring steel tines placed about an inch apart. They're good for raking lumps and debris off while prepping the area. A pulverizer is a big H beam with harrow spikes and usually a rear roller with spikes as well for levelling and prepping the surface. If you have some pull type harrows, just throw some weight on them and drag them around. It will do about the same thing. Dave

In a tight place where dragging isn't real practical. Thought I could just back up and drop it & go. Was looking at replacement tines for a spring type harrow when I thought about what I had laying. I'll try a little creativity. Maybe my chain harrow and quad will do the trick.

I find that for leveling areas a box blade works well. Vary the approach angles frequently and try to keep soil in the box. Make sure you level the blade to the tractor before doing any work.

And if I used my original idea and made a second bar that I could switch with these bolted to it?

Dave(also),
I've got a King Kutter landscape rake that works great for knocking down ruts, finish grading, small weeds, etc.
Don't work for pulling rock outa the yard after the winter snow plowing. BTDT - spring tines just fling them suckers!

Dave try googling horse riding ring groomer. It's a ring of steel, attached to a wheel hub. The steel ring has drag harrow teeth bolted to it, at an angle. It is a 3 point, non powered attachment, rotates on motion of the tractor forward. It is also way pricey, I bet you could weld up an old trailer drop axle, to an old 3 point frame of some sort, then find an old steel wheel, some suitable spokes, to weld it to the trailer rim, and a few harrow teeth, to do the job. If I find a picture, I'll post it later.
