Disc now or in spring?

I just subsoiled and plowed the garden. Usually I'd disc it to break up the trash from the years planting, but I was gone the last year so it didn't get planted, just kept mowed down. I was wondering if it would be better to just leave it plowed so the freeze and thaw would keep it soft so I could just disc it in the spring. I would plow and disc again in spring normally. Probably overkill, but I do like running the tractor!

Thats what I would do, the more you disc it, the more you are compacting your soil.

Let it set over the winter and disc it up in the spring before you plant.

Another thought if you want to deal with it is to disc it now and disc in a cover crop which will aid in gardening and/or the soil. Austrian peas are said to be good at providing nitrogen as well as soil building via roots and organic matter.

I've even used wheat before.
